lunch, anyone?

i am fully prepared to do a blog on my going-away party ASAP, but i thought this was noteworthy. it's has been and will likely be a busy (and hot) few days around here and although i concocted a delicious sandwich that i've been devouring for lunch every day (toasted sandwich thins, provolone cheese, low-fat garden vegetable cream cheese, turkey, tomato, and bean sprouts. seriously, it's ridiculously delicious. i ate it too quickly to get a pic at lunch today), i am still trying to find quick and easy meals that can be eaten while at a computer or on a short cleaning/packing break.

this is the story of how i finally found myself staring at those healthy choice fresh mixers. these are ingenious little creations that basically let you cook a single serving of pasta in the microwave and mix it with a delicious sauce. my only complaint about them is that they aren't sold in recyclable containers. otherwise, they are pretty smart - low calorie, low fat, no (or almost no) cholesterol, high protein, high fiber, and. . . actually pretty high in salt, but i'm not even feeling guilty about that right now given my low blood pressure situation.

but that's not even the real story. imagine my surprise and delight when i turned one of these bad boys over to find this:
i just did this and it seems legit. all you have to do is go to their website and enter your code and you essentially donate a meal to a child via conagra foods. it's like tom's shoes, but with pasta. it's literally that simple, too. there is no extra clicking or anything. once you enter the website, the box for entering your code is staring you in the face. you don't have to enter your mailing address, e-mail, or anything.

SO, if you're thinking you want something different for lunch in the next few weeks (the campaign ends at the end of august. . . apparently it's been on since march and i just didn't know about it), i nominate one or more of these bad boys!
