case in point: my mom kept saying things as part of real sentences and i would repeat the important words. . . as an entire, stand-alone phrase. . .in an awed tone that could only say, "i totally hadn't even thought of that. . . "
e.g., mom: . . . and sometime we'll think about putting an engagement picture in the paper.
me: engagement picture. . .
mom: so you'll want to think about something like that as gifts for your attendants
me: gifts for attendants. . .
mom: it's just something you'll want to think about when you go to register for gifts.
me: register for gifts. . .
poor mom. i think we ended up talking for about 90 minutes. that had to have been a long talk for her. sorry, mom.
so, true to form, i panicked a little bit and then went to barnes and noble for some help:
so i just wanted to announce, of course, that heretofore it is not my fault if there are things about weddings that i have no idea about. i am reading the chapters bit-by-bit. . .kind of the same way that we are making decisions in general. . .and if someone says something to me later and i say, "i hadn't even thought that we would need to think about that. . ." you can blame Amy Nebens, Carley Roney, and the editors at the knot.
smarter or not, at least i have someone else to blame, right? :)

The second I read the word "heretofore" I was immediately transported to the movie Legally Blonde.
